All Time Top 100 with Paul Budd AKA Pablo Contraband
Paul Budd has been DJing under various guises for many years and has played at pretty much every type of party going from Illegal Raves back in the day, Cool Nightclubs, Surprise 40ths in Village Halls, Weddings, Dutch Stadium gigs, Swimming pools, warming up for bands and even a secure Mental health unit! Oh yeah he's been around the block taking in everything along the way, be it the epitome of underground sounds or the straight up party anthems, floor fillers and cheese alike.
Recent times saw the birth of Pablo Contraband and his night/blog Disco Deviant. This has been an altogether more focused and relatively successful project, providing a proper party platform to play the music he is most passionate about and in turn invite some dream guests along to play. Pablo has shared the Disco Deviant booth with Greg Wilson, Andrew Weatherall, Horse Meat Disco, Norman Jay, Bicep, Cosmic Boogie, Rocky & Diesel, Rui da Silva and Rayko over the past couple of years.
'ATT100 is a really nice one to think about doing, all the tunes from over the years. The stuff I grew up with like The Jam, Cure, Smiths onto Madchester and then H.O.U.S.E - loads of other stuff I love Placebo and Carly Simon too not to mention my R&B habit. When I think about it my first 'performance' was as a toddler doing a tour of my grandparents neighbours with my teenage Aunt to perform my rendition of Hold me Close by David Essex in their living rooms. Better dig that one out I suppose!'
Nb: Why Pablo Contraband?
I was working with a collective of DJs under the Contraband DJs moniker and when I started getting booked away from them I just used the Pablo nickname. When I saw it written down it just works.
