Top 100 has passed through four venues in Brighton. In May 2003 we started at The Full Moon on Boyces St. but had to leave when the owners realised they’d neglected to sign the lease. In September 2003 we moved just round the corner to the Black Lion which was great in that it had a wicked soundsystem, bags of room and even a mini-dancefloor in front of the decks; but not so great in that it was located right in the centre of Brighton and would invariably fill up with hen nights and shirted men, who, for some reason, would take offence to Plastikman’s ‘Spastik’ going full tilt at half ten. Honestly, some people?
.......So we moved to the Sidewinder up in Kemp Town – a much friendlier, much more atmospheric boozer and were happy there for almost two and a half years. It was ALL GOOD until the licensing laws changed to allow drinking till 2AM and for a while after that is was ALL BLOODY AMAZING. Too good to be true perhaps and the Sidewinder being a pub and not a club it wasnt long before the pubs neighbours began to complain about Plastikmans Spastik going full tilt at half one. Bit by bit the sound system was chipped away at almost to the point where it didnt really seem fair to put DJs on. So we moved. Things have come full circle sort of and were back in a bar run by the good people that set us off in the first place. We love the Cosmo Bar. All the gear works, the soundsystem rocks, the staff are lovely and its like having our very own bar, to be honest. Great stuff.
