All Time Top 100 with Tim Rivers

It's only bloomin' Tim Rivers playing his All Time Top 100!...

He writes:

For those of you who don’t know me, and many of you won’t. I produce music under the name Kalidasa, put on the occasional night (TiED, Headroom, The Acid House), collect a few records and play them to anyone that will listen, and I’m the author of theacidhouse.com a blog about music past, present and future.

It is a great honour to be asked to play my all time top 100 at The Coopers Cask, one that I am really looking forward to.

My musical journey started at a young age in the early 80s, with an introduction to Bauhaus by my next door neighbour who had a Synthesiser and was a vocalist in an indie band, I guess this helped open my mind a little to other sounds other than the general pop I was buying. Fast forward to the “breakdance” era and the Electro Compilations, then onto my skateboarding influences of The Cramps, The Cult, Suicidal tendencies led me down a path of guitar based music, a purchase of a Fender Strat and a short time spent as a lead guitarist in a school band called The Moondogs, a hazy smoky summer of listening to Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Hawkwind and then wallop an “E”pithany in a field somewhere in Hampshire. The next few years were spent following the Free Party scene, Spiral Tribe, Sweat, DIY, Circus Warp, a few DJ gigs with the records I was buying and then a lengthy time going to London House and Garage clubs, you get the picture.

In 1999 I created a website called theacidhouse.com as a way of reuniting people to the early sounds of the acid house era, the site still runs today in the format of a blog and gets the occasional update with music from the past, present and future. From 2002 I hosted a radio show on an internet station called Pirate Revival specialising in dance music from the 1988-94 era, this show ran for six years, plus playing at retrospective house gigs in Liverpool & London until I move to Brighton and was involved in a different kind of “House” project.

In recent years I have been playing records at the wonderful Go Bang nights, Disco Deviant, Fishbowl, The Globe, Green Door Store, Fortune of War etc, and also put on a few nights of my own (TiED, The Acid House, Headroom). Last year I picked up the guitar again and started to write music. My first release “Bursting through” under my moniker “Kalidasa” was put out on the World Unknown label in October 2011, and features on Andrew Weatherall’s Ministry of Sound Masterpiece Series that comes out on the 22nd April.

My Top 100 is always evolving, and this is some task to narrow it down, but I will give it my best shot. Your presence will be most welcome as I self indulge in my 100 top tracks, pop down to the Coopers Cask on May 5th while I try to navigate through multiple genres that have a special place in my heart.

BRING IT ON! AS EVER IT'S FREE!!
